Fiends, Brothers and Wives join up!!
Several new members were welcomed into F8S in the last few weeks. NUMNUTS[F8S] - an "old" friend from one of our ally clans [A3D] has come over to F8S. Ronin[F8S], brother of Doblidor[F8S] got hooked on gaming and joined up. And, CrstlDragoN[F8S], Joker[F8S]'s spouse got into CS ad joined up too. Welcome all.
The F8S family tradition continues.
New Server burns!!!
The Minions and even one non Minion (thanks Pondy!) chipped in to build up a new server. And this baby burns. It is a Intel P4 2.4 G CPU w 1Gig of DDR2100 Ram. Hosted by our best friend - Ron the Linuxdude - on an OC3 - just like it's little brother.
So now that we have this new beast...what we gonna do with it? Battlefield 1942, that's what! The 1942 server IP is 216.86.169.28 but due to the massive number of clueless weenies playing on public seervers we have is passworded. If you are a friend of F8S just email me and we'll be happy to share then password and the fun!
F8S are Lovin BF 1942!!
F8S started playing 1942 when the Multiplayer demo was released and we have been loving it. The full retail game released about a week ago and we are having a blast. It is a cross between Tribes2 and CS with lots of god stuff like Tanks, and jeeps to drive, Zero, Messeerschmitz, Spitfires and even Flying Fortresses to fly and battleships and submarines to use on the seas. In a word, this game rocks.
So, now get got a new server running a new game, what we gonna do about it?

F8S has joined up on the OGL BF1942 12 v 12 Conquest latter. This should be a blast. BIG teams just the way we like it. Big mags and lots of action. The fun should be starting up soon.

July 25, 2002- All F8S Fight Club - CS and Q3CTF Roll!
We have been debating the rather huge size of F8S recently...mostly regarding the fact that that old family feel was fading. So we decided to become very selective about new recruits. But don't worry, if you are truly F8S we'll still recognize you - eventually.
More importantly we decided to use our size to our advantage by getting it on with All F8S Fight Club tourneys. They are 5 team round robins...in both CS and Q3CTF. More importantly, because it is all in the family things like taunting, which is usually appropriately prohibited in public competitions, is not only allowed but encouraged! This should make for lots of hairy-assed fun for the whole F8S family!

July 16, 2002- Lots of News for Ya!
From Brits to Rednecks...Every Minion is Welcome at F8S!!
From one extreme to the other. First the refined European addition of Calibra[F8S] our first brit, and now we counter that with the addition of MAGGOT[F8S] and his buddy BullsEye[F8S], a coupla good ole boys from the Old South!!! Woohoo and howdy boys! Welcome to the Clan...but keep yourun fingers ofen yur cuzins while yur hangin roun the ole batcave!!
Not One...But Four F8S Joker's at the Pentagon!!!
F8S Pentagon contingent was expanded with the addition of Joker[F8S]. Is this just a little disturbing? This many F8S in the pentagon...I mean what more could you ask for in terms of Homeland security anyway? I am certain that if things go south, at least Minions HQ will be safe! With Joker[F8S] on the top, here are our F8S on duty at the Pentagon.
Note the oh so cewl desktop they each have on their government issue flat panel screens. Hey, that's the same desktop I have. Way to go F8S!

May 12, 2002- F8S Expands Across the Pond!!!
I am pleased to announce our first Euro-trash member - Calibra[F8S] our newest Minion. Calibra[F8S] lives in London, England and found he way home to F8S, not an easy journey. He is one of the new breed of Minions who loves CS and are un-schooled in Q3CTF. Of course, the rest of us will enjoy schooling him in Q3CTF soon enough. But til then we are glad to have him aboard. Check this out...the guy even looks like a damned Brit!
Welcome home Calibra[F8S]...Though I think you are going a long way to suck up, putting my favorite type of cigar right on your tee shirt!

April 27, 2002- A New Look for the F8S Website and Some Q3CTF Summer Fun!!!
Diesel[F8S] and Havagan[F8S] Give the Old Web Site a New Dress!!!
Diesel has been hacking away at the old web site...and things are looking better than ever! Old stuff keeps getting prettier and prettier and some of the parts of the site that have been pretty much dysfunctional for a long time (yeah...my bad there) have been getting juiced up by one of our newer brothers Havagan[F8S]. In addition to being one kickass CS player, who is not afraid to being a target when we have our Q3 sessions, it turns out that Havs is somewhat of the wizard when it comes to databases and all that esoteric stuff. So, we are going automated in a lot of areas that used to have to be done by hand (hence the neglect over the years). Most of the initial stuff have been done in the private areas...but soon enough you will see it migrating into the public parts of the site as well.
Kitten[KL] Convinced F8S to Compete for Some Q3CTF Summer Fun!!!
Long time friend of F8S Kitten[KL] (god I love it when she purrrrrs!) has convinced F8S to enter into Q3CTF competition again (so much for being only a Fight Club!) and we have entered the Stronger Than All Q3CTF Summer Fun League! It is a 16 clan league of seasoned and honorable clans playing on new or little played CTF maps. We may even have a few unreleased maps sprung on us as the competition continues. Lots of old friends and it looks like a fragging good time...but than these things always look that way going in. We have recently taken delivery of a gross of Ole Man F8S Medicated Asspads just in case!!!

April 9, 2002- F8S and A3D at Armory Assault!!!
A strong showing from F8S and our friends from A3D got together at the Armory Assault LAN in Jacksonville Florida last week end. It was a fine time. A little too much CS and not near enough Q3CTF...but all in all we had a great time. It is always nice to put faces together with those we gather together with on a regular basis and to make some new friends!

March 28, 2002- F8S Fight Club, GDC and Limelight[F8S]!!!
F8S First Fight Club CS Tourney!!!
Crazy_One[F8S] along with our youngest member SOA[F8S] took top honors in the first all F8S Counter Strike Fight Club. We went 2v2 after we took attendance and generated random teams with the patented Havagizer! It took a while but we all got through it...great play...amazingly even teams...no whiney pissant MFs...just fun fun fun!!!
FaTe[F8S] Rendezvous With His Dream Girl at GDC!!!
A had a great trip out to GDC this year. Did a round table discussion on my ongoing exploration of my original philosophocal thesis...the Phenomenology and Game Design...and it was fun and well received for the most part. And of course...a bunch of very cewl and enlightening things...like at eye busting look at a demo of the next generation of the Unreal game engine!
A also had the absolute pleasure of spending some quality time with gamegodess Stevie Case a/k/a Killcreek. I had met Stevie a few weeks earlier at the IGDA meeting in Orlando where she was speaking along with her long time BF and business partner, John Pomero. She was werkin the conference on behalf of their new company MonkeyStone...and had just finished a few days of back to back meetings. John was back home in Taxas, so I invited her to accompany me to the Speaker's Party at the Adjenda...and she accepted. So, I had the pleasure of her company for several hours...and let me tell you - she is a smart, beautiful woman who knows and loves games and is a kick ass gamer to boot...she dazed me to say the least!!! If you do not know Killcreek...here she is....

Limelite[F8S] is the newest minion. Before he met F8S he was all CounterStrike. No more! From what I hear he is rapidly changing from Target into a Preditor in Q3. I know a minion when I see one and all I gotta say is - This guy fits right in.
It is always a joy to find another Minion looking for his way home. Glad you found us Limey!!!

February 22, 2002- The Return of the Parkers!!!
Two of the earliest members of F8S have returned home after extended absences...the F8S Emeritus Father and Son Parker duo...Agamemnon[F8S] and his little boy Rapture[F8S] (boy am I gonna pay for THAT remark!). First Aga wandered in mumbling something about missing my briefcase and thinking he is "all that" at CounterSuck...then just as you would expect, a few days later in comes Rap "asking" to come home...ASKING!!!! Hahahahahaha. Rapture you should know...when we make you F8S for life you ARE F8S for life. So, no need to ask buddy...just cumon home, we are glad to have you both back where you belong!
ThunderWalker Turns 5 this Month!!!
That's right...the Quake mod that spawned F8S has reached its 5 year anniversary...guess F8S 5th should be coming around in about 6-8 months! We are presently looking for info on the CNN non0clan tourney and the other artifacts surrounding the founding of F8S and I will probably talk Diesel[F8S] into putting together a Clan History section for the site. Panda has put together some cewl stuff you may want to get for the anniversary like tee shirts and coffee mugs. Check them out...
The mouse pad looks pretty cewl, but I went for the mugs! The Tee shirts would be cewl if they had them in black...but they are only available in white or grey...and no one wears anything but black as far as I know!

Yep...ole FaTe just passed his 54th Birthday a few weeks ago...and my long time friend and Minions Warlord Crazy_One[F8S] just hit his 38 yesterday! You may be getting closer CO...but you'll never catch me! Between the two of us we almost burned down the Batcave with all those damned candles!!!
CounterStrike Server Stuff...
As much as I personal dislike CS, the Clan has taken this misfit of a game to heart. Stats are available for those who play on our server and if you got here you can probably figure out how to get to them. We are running both an Admin Mod and requiring CheatDeath to keep things as clean as possible and is seems to be working, though the public usage of the server sure tapered off when we loaded all the anti-cheat stuff. Hard to believe anyone would bother the cheat to get a better score on a computer game...but folks do it all the time and we don't truck that sorta crap around here. And we are committed to keeping our server cheat free!

January 23, 2002- F8S Back into Competition - - - Mulhawhawhaw!!!
No this is not madness...well mabe it is - but...after announcing our retirement from competition, F8S is back at it again. This time it is a single elimination tourney in Return to Castle Wolfenstein!!!
F8S is putting together its Team for the upcoming RTCW Battle on the Beachhead single elimination tourney. We may only get one match out of this but it should be fun anyway!
And to add to the fun - joining up with F8S for the tourney are a few old schoolers from the TW list including Hambone[CNN], Batman{ZFA] and LiveBiat[YG] and hopefully a few more...(BlackTooth and DirtyLikeaRat possibly!) Should be fun!

January 14, 2002- Fuck This - Now It's F8S Fight Club!!!
Well F8S has decided to drop all external competitions and just play with ourselves...wait...it's not what it sounds like! After the worst run in F8S history of 0-21 (combined caps of 587-14!!!) on the OGL ladder FaTe's Minions has decided to retire from competition. Apparently we just don't get it...or there is something going on that we chose not to participate any longer. Besides we have been having a total blast playing among F8S where we KNOW we have a level playing field. So for now at least...F8S is a fight club. Anyone lookin for a fair and clean fun time is welcome to join in. The rest can go fuck themselves and the horses they rode in on!!!

January 13, 2002- New News from F8S!!!
I decided it was time to clean up the old briefcase and update the news. Last year is in the archives and we are into what will be an interesting year for F8S. So let's get to the news.....
- F8S Expands with Two New Servers!!! -
F8S best buddy ron the server dude has blessed us with two new servers...and they are not Q3!!! F8S is now running a Counter Strike server - at 216.86.161.26 standard port - 27015. F8S has it PWed most of the time...but if you are reading this you probably know us well enough to hop on our ETG chat (#clan_f8s) and get the passwrod so you can join the CS fun.
F8S is also running a RTCW server. Wolfinstein is a great game (even if it is a little short of maps so far) and we are pleased to host this server. It has a bunch of public slots and a few private client slots so there is always a good bunch there. Of course, the members of F8S police the server to keep the bullsh*t to as minimum. IP is 216.86.161.26 with a port of 27963. Cumon in a join the fun!
Of course F8S Q3 OSP Tourney CTF server still rocks on and is available for tourney matches and general funage! 216.86.161.26 port 27961. Thanks again ron for helping F8S contribute to the on-line gaming community!

That's right...the old man is giving a presentation at this years Game Developers Conference in San Jose, CA, March 2002. My topic is The Phenomenology of Game Design and deals with the metaphisics of the aesthetic interactive experience. No...really it does!!!
